His Excellency Ambassador Narciso Salvo di Pietraganzili attended the ceremonial reception for the diplomatic corps in Montenegro, hosted by the President of Montenegro, H.E. Jakov Milatović, on 11th December. The event was held at the historic Government House in Cetinje, the former royal capital where Montenegro’s first embassies were established.
President Milatović, addressing the assembled heads of mission, underscored the symbolic importance of the location, stating, “By gathering here, we pay tribute to the roots of our diplomacy, but also to the enduring values of dialogue, respect and partnership that connect our countries.”
In his remarks, the President outlined Montenegro’s strategic foreign policy goals, emphasizing its commitment to European Union membership and strengthened cooperation within NATO. “Although the support of our partners is invaluable, the greatest responsibility lies with us,” President Milatović said, affirming Montenegro’s dedication to Euro-Atlantic security.
On the subject of global engagement, the President reaffirmed Montenegro’s steadfast commitment to the principles of multilateralism. “Our voice may be modest, but our principles are unwavering,” he stated, highlighting support for a rules-based international order, human rights, and peaceful dispute resolution.
The reception provided a significant opportunity for Ambassador Salvo di Pietraganzili to engage with senior Montenegrin officials and fellow members of the diplomatic community. The event concluded on a forward-looking note, with President Milatović outlining a series of key international meetings Montenegro will host or chair in 2026, including the official visit of the Grand Master of the Order of Malta to Montenegro, describing the coming period as a “test of maturity” for the nation.
