The Ambassador
NARCISO SALVO di PIETRAGANZILI, born in Palermo, married, with one son, after graduating in Law at the University of Palermo (1968/69) he carried out research activities at the University of Palermo, Institutes of Administrative Law and Constitutional Law.
Manager since 1972 of the National Federation of Chemical Industry (Confindustria) where he most recently held the position of Central Director for Institutional Relations based in Rome and Brussels (1997 – 2005) with activities aimed at representing, protecting and assisting member companies in their relations with institutions: National and European Parliament, National Government, central and regional public administrations, European Commission.
In the four-year period 2005-2009 he served as President of Assofertilizzanti/Federchimica, the Association that within Confindustria represents manufacturers of technical means for agriculture, of which he is currently Honorary President.
He was a permanent Observer at the European Commission, Brussels, for legislation on chemical products; Member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Accreditation Body (2009-2014). Member of the Board of IFA, the World Fertiliser Association based in Paris (2005-2016), Board Member of Valagro S.p.A. (2010-2021).
Author of numerous articles on industrial and agricultural economics, environmental legislation and simplification of administrative procedures, in specialist journals.
Activities for the Order of Malta
Magistral Commissioner of the Association of the Italian Knights of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta – ACISMOM (June 2009 – December 2011) in charge of health and hospitaller activities with the management of a neurological rehabilitation hospital and 14 outpatient centres in Italy employing over 450 health and para-health care professionals and member of the Association’s Board of Directors (2017-2024).
Commissioner of the Military Corps of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (2009 – 2011 and 2013 – 2016) in charge of the Order’s health and relief activities.
President of the Order of Malta Italian Relief Corps Foundation – CISOM (2011-2016), which works in the field of Civil Defence and First Aid, also in cooperation with other Order of Malta structures and the country’s civil defence system.
Heraldic Consultor of the Grand Magistry of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (since 2006)
Knight of the Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion in Obedience of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, he was appointed Ambassador of the Order to Montenegro in October 2023 and presented his credentials to H.E. the President of the Republic Milatović in May 2024.
