The event was organised and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Montenegro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This year\u2019s edition brought together 58 young diplomats from 48 countries around the world. Participating nations included Bahrain, Belgium, China, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, India, Lithuania, Pakistan, Palestine, Peru, the United States, and many others. The central theme of the School was\u00a0<\/span><b>\u201cFrom Rules to Reality: Diplomacy in the Age of Motion.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The programme featured a series of lectures, panels, roundtables, and workshops focusing on contemporary challenges in international relations, including shifts in the distribution of power, security issues, European Union enlargement, United Nations reform, regional cooperation, and the development of international law. Participants had the opportunity to hear and exchange views with distinguished speakers, among them Milan Ro\u0107en, founder of the Summer School and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro; Kurt Volker, former U.S. Ambassador to NATO and former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations; Charles Powell, Director of the Elcano Royal Institute; Ekaterina Paniklova, UNDP Resident Representative to Montenegro; and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Ervin Ibrahimovi\u0107. The Summer School was officially opened at the Vladin Dom in Cetinje, with subsequent sessions held in Kola\u0161in, \u017dabljak, Budva, Kotor, and Podgorica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mr. Valerio Carafa actively participated in lectures, panel discussions, and workshops, contributing his insights in several occasions, including during the workshop on the role of diplomacy in today\u2019s rapidly changing world. His presence further strengthened the Order of Malta\u2019s ties with Montenegrin officials and other diplomats, while also promoting the Order\u2019s diplomatic and humanitarian mission on the international stage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The closing ceremony, held in Podgorica, was attended by ambassadors, representatives of international organisations, and senior state officials. On that occasion, Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of Montenegro, Filip Ivanovi\u0107, delivered the final lecture, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Adis Pepi\u0107, presented certificates to the participants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Order of Malta\u2019s participation in the 19th Summer School for Young Diplomats confirms its commitment to fostering international dialogue, cooperation, and understanding, reflecting its active role in global diplomacy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><b>The Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, founded in Jerusalem in the second half of the 11th century, is a subject of international law and a Catholic and secular religious order. Its mission is to witness the faith and serve the poor and the sick. Today, the Order of Malta is most active in the fields of medical and social assistance and humanitarian interventions, and is present in more than 130 countries. With its 13,500 members, the Order has 100,000 volunteers supported by approximately 60,000 doctors, nurses, and paramedics. The Order runs hospitals, medical centres, clinics, institutes for the elderly and persons with disabilities, centres for the terminally ill, and socio-medical and psychological support projects for migrants and refugees.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Order\u2019s international humanitarian branch, Malteser International, provides emergency relief in war zones and in the event of natural disasters. The Order is currently engaged in Ukraine, at over 70 locations in the country and in neighbouring states. In the Middle East, it assists victims of conflict, particularly in Lebanon and Gaza (in cooperation with the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem), and runs the only hospital with neonatal intensive care in Bethlehem. The Italian Rescue Corps of the Order of Malta participates in migrant rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Order of Malta is neutral, impartial, and apolitical. It has diplomatic relations with 115 countries, official relations with a further 5 countries, as well as diplomatic relations with the European Union and the African Union. It has permanent observer status at the United Nations and is represented at major international organisations. Since 1834, the government of the Sovereign Order of Malta has been seated in Rome. The 81st Grand Master is Fra\u2019 John T.
